Oh! Avocado you beauty, I don’t know whether these innocent taste buds of mine would ever be able to get over your delicious taste in this lifetime. Too dramatic, I know, so on a serious note; my love for avocados go beyond breakfast toast and smoothies. This buttery textured green delicacy is my travel buddy and luckily very easily available here in Zambia (organic too☺☺☺☺☺). There are a lot of avocado trees in my neighborhood. Come on what do you think, I climb those trees and pluck them own my own,even though I would love to do this adventure but I totally abstain from it and allow my gardener to do the honors.

I seriously need to stop all this bragging here because we have work to do and kids to please, although it is an uphill task but we are on it. You need to be innovative in your ideas to feed them healthy food in “disguise”, where they don’t blame you as an uptight mother – since you want to be called an intelligent mother and not uptight,right my lovelies??

One thumb rule, being a mother, I always keep in my mind is whatever I feed my daughter’s it has to be healthy, balanced, colorful and has flavors of their liking. And it works for me all the time.

So fellow mothers, we will continue to discuss a lot of healthy recipes here but today I am sharing my simple, yummy and healthy avocado dip recipe. Making it on a super busy traveling day is extremely easy and less time consuming and it’s the perfect companion of any kind of homemade chips; be it sweet potato, potato, pita chips, tortilla chips, or any homemade chips and cut & roasted veggies.

Not further wasting time here is my recipe…

Ingredients

  • Avocado – 1 ripened
  • Garlic – 3 cloves
  • Yogurt – 4 tablespoons
  • Lime juice – 1 tablespoon
  • Cumin Powder – ¼ tablespoon
  • Honey – 1 tablespoon
  • Mixed herbs, Salt and ground black pepper – to taste

Directions

  • Place the yogurt, avocado, garlic, lime juice, honey, mixed herbs and cumin in a blender or a food processor.
  • Blend until smooth.
  • Season with salt and black pepper.

I bet your kids would love it and keep on munching on it the whole the way to your destination, would definitely forget to ask their most beloved question “Are we there yet?” And I seriously believe that food is the best distraction for kids from any tiring long journey. Serve them their favorite food with a pinch of health and love
