Those puffy eyes tell many tales… they make you look older and tired. Puffiness under eyes is sign of aging, stress and unhealthy lifestyle. First thing you should start with, in order to get rid of puffiness, is cut down the intake of salt and alcohol, next is 6 to 7 hours sleep is a must. Puffiness under eyes is generally caused by fluid retention due large intake of salt or alcohol, sleeplessness, allergies, it could be hereditary also and it could be the outcome of stressful lifestyle. Whatever may be the reason, puffy eyes change the whole look of your face and your face appears more haggard, tired and unattractive.
There are host of natural remedies which can help reduce puffiness, I am mentioning few which always work for me:
cold compress: best way to get rid of puffy eyes is cold compress. It mainly comprise of lightly dabbing your under eye area with cold packs. I usually do with ice cubes wrapped in cotton, green tea bags which we generally throw after using can be used to drain the fluid under eyes, instead of throwing them , put the used green tea bags in fridge and once cold can be put under eyes. Spoons can be used to reduce puffiness too, you just need to put few spoons in the freezer, once cold you can lightly dab the spoons over your under eye area. It again helps in reducing water retention under eyes.
cucumber and white egg pack: cucumber alone is every effective. its widely known, cucumbers have mild skin lightening effect. The ascorbic acid and caffeic acid in cucumbers bring down the water retention under the eyes. If cucumber is combined with egg white the effect is greater. Egg whit contains collagen and protein. Collagen helps fill in under eye wrinkles, while the protein improves your skin’s elasticity. Grate a small piece of peeled cucumber and extract its juice by squeezing the grated cucumber, add egg white, whisk properly and dap two cotton balls, without squeezing put them over your eyes, properly covering under eye area. Leave it for 15 to 20 mins. After that rinse with lukewarm water and pat dry. Always apply a good under eye cream to keep under eye area properly moisturized.
Coffee grounds for puffy eyes: for this you need half teaspoon ground coffee beans, a pinch of black pepper powder and 1 teaspoon coconut oil. Mix all ingredients well and carefully apply it under your eyes. Just make sure it doesn’t get in your eyes. Leave it for 10 to 12 minutes and gently wipe it with wet cotton. You can apply it 2 to 3 times a week. Caffeine in the coffee has anti inflammatory effects and will reduce swelling and puffiness. The black pepper enhances the blood circulation and coconut oil moisturizes the skin and gives it a natural glow.
Aloe vera: extract fresh aloe vera gel, carefully apply it under the eyes and let it dry for 8 to 10 mins. Rinse well with cool water. Aloe vera contains essential vitamins and antioxidants. It not only reduces the puffiness under eyes but also tones the skin and has anti aging effect.
These are few remedies which always help me reduce under eye puffiness, dark circles and wrinkles. Try these and you will see the difference in very short time. Drink lot of water, stay hydrated. Stay beautiful!
