Dear Ladies and Gentlemen, we have successfully arrived in new year. We practically partied our way into it and now after all those parties, food full of calories and boozing, we are looking for ways to detox our bodies to free it from the toxins we consumed during holiday season. I know.. I know, in fact, a slight ring around the waist is started to show up. Its your cue to do something about it before it gets out of hand. As they say “one stitch in time saves nine”, start now so that you don’t have to deal with enormous weight gain later. People like me, who have tendency to gain weight easily, have zero metabolism and have imbalanced thyroid condition, are more prone to holiday weight gain. First step towards to correct this, is to detox your body. Since its just recent intake of toxins it can be easily flushed out of body by following certain diets. But before you follow any diet, cut down your sugar and salt intake immediately. There are certain diets that always work for me to detox my body after holiday season. I am mentioning few of them below:
SMOOTHIE DIET:It always does wonders for me. Its basically comprised of smoothies made of leafy vegetables and fruits that you can drink whole day. There are lot of dietician who have published their books over smoothie diet, enumerating its pros and cons, different recipes for a week or so and what can be eaten along with smoothie diet. There are lot of health benefits of smoothie diet which I experienced myself, first being my thyroid level going down, I lost inches around my waist and no indigestion anymore. I followed 10-day green smoothie cleanse by JJ SMITH. This book is easily available on Amazon. What I really liked about this book is, the writer has given two option. First is mild detox where u can eat grilled chicken and certain salads in between and second is full detox smoothie diet where you only drink green smoothie , you can still have hard boiled eggs and unsweetened peanut butter. When I first time followed this diet, for first five days I followed mild detox, just to adjust my body to new eating pattern and then after five days I switched to full detox diet. The Author has clearly mentioned the instruction which are easy to follow and very helpful in detoxing the body. But before you dive into smoothie detox diet, please read its merits and demerits carefully.
FRUITS AND VEGETABLE DIET: Its strictly 3 to 5 days detox diet. Its mainly comprised of lot of fruits, green vegetables and water intake. Its easily available on internet. Generally, its advised not to workout during this diet as its only fiber you consume and no carbs, you feel low on energy. Before going on this detox diet read carefully its pros and cons. I personally feel this sort of diet should be added in day to day life style with little modification of course. You can add lentils like kidney beans, red lentils, green lentils or black lentils in your diet. You can add oatmeal and yogurt too in your diet. Proper breakfast, lunch and dinner diet plans are available on net with details on benefits and side effects.
EGG DIET: Its your high lean protein, low carbs and low calorie diet. It mainly contains eggs, chicken and fish which are rich source of lean protein. Its more of a crash diet often adopted to loose the stubborn fat. Again its breakfast, lunch and dinner diets plans are available on net. Before adopting this diet plan, it is highly recommended to read about its benefits and side effects.
If you do not wish to follow any diet even than you can easily detox your body by eating clean and following few easy steps:
1.Cut down sugar and salt intake,
2.Green tea: drink green tea at least two times,
3. Dry fruits: eat overnight soaked first thing in the morning,
4. Avoid dairy products for time being,
5. Of course say no to junk (strictly no junk food),
6. Eat fruits and leafy vegetables,
7. Drink lukewarm water whole day,
