You got it right! I am talking about the most trending movie on Netflix right now, Holiday in the wild. First of all, let me take a moment to appreciate how fantastically it has been written, filmed and presented. Such a fresh breath of air, among all glittery movies indulged in Christmas in snow white cities, this movie takes you straight to the wilds of Zambia, Africa and brings you face to face to beautiful wildlife with lots of warmth, love and less of WIFI connection. Well, African safaris are world-famous and a lot has been written about them. People all around the world come to Africa for these luxurious five-star wildlife safaris. This movie is a bit different. A New Yorker after parting ways with her husband lands in Africa to explore its wild, unadulterated and organic beauty on a five-star safari but an accident occurs during her plane ride to safari destination and she decides to go to orphan elephant nursery instead and spend her holidays there witnessing raw life at its best, forging a relationship with beautiful animals and garnering the experience of a lifetime. The USP of this movie is its simplicity, depicting how human beings need a connection with nature and other beings to feel alive, happy and at peace. However money you make, luxury you float in or lead a life full of pomp and show, at the end your soul craves peace, austerity, and quietness. That’s when a human turns to nature. Oh, I got carried away there. Let’s get back to the movie, so it turns out the lady used to practice as a vet with a handful of experience of treating dogs and cats and here she offers to treat elephants which are being hunted down for ivory, experiences living in a tent, enjoying the cute banters with a local guide and starts looking at life from new a perspective. Holiday in the wild is the best Christmas movie trending on Netflix right now. Refreshing and carries a message to get lost in nature to find yourself. If you haven’t watched it or in a double mind then let me tell you are missing out on a great entertaining story. And also, if you have any plans to visit Africa then it’s a must-watch.
P.S- our fellow writer Jyoti Rathore who is enjoying her best life in Zambia has written wonderful articles about the beauty and tourist destinations in Zambia here on gokhushi. Do check her articles on the travel section, I am sure you would love them as much as you love the movie.
