Workout is a lifestyle, not just simply a way to attain fitness goals for certain time period. It has to be something which blends well in your everyday routine. Something you can continue in your forties and fifties too. I have been following power yoga for couple of years now, in between I did try other means of fitness like gyming, zumba, high intensity workout etc. I have come to realise that for a time being you may enjoy these other means but these can not be followed for long time. Your body starts to get tired in couple of months and you desperately need a break. But with power yoga, you feel more energetic everyday. It not only helps you keep fit, but it also helps in healing certain conditions you may have. That must strictly be done under the observation of an expert.
For beginners, power yoga is a boon. Since your body is extremely rigid and its not a very good idea to straight way hurl it into heavy workout. Power yoga helps you bring flexibility in your body. It’s postures and moves make your body light and toned gradually. It’s a myth that power yoga is mainly comprise of Surya Namaskar done repeatedly on high speed. No, it’s more than just surya namaskar, there are number of asanas focusing on each and every area of your body. A woman’s body post par-tum is extremely delicate and needs to be taken care of properly. At least for three months post partum a woman should avoid heavy workout, giving proper time to the body to heal. After the doctor gives you green signal to workout post partum. Start with power yoga, it will be less strenuous and can be easily done at home. It’s good if you can have an instructor coming over otherwise Youtube is always there to help. I am posting some links of power yoga videos which helped me big time to get in to fitness as a beginner.
Just thirty to forty minutes a day either first thing in the morning or in the evening, power yoga will gradually help you shape your body in a very relaxed manner. Since all asanas are done in synchronization of exhaling and inhaling, it helps in oxygenating your body, it brings glow on face and helps in relaxing. Give it a try, I am sure you will feel the sea change in your attitude towards your body. All the very best!
